Born in 1981 in Berkshire, England, Rachel now divides her professional life between France, the UK and wherever the touring takes her!
Rachel is currently a member of the French orchestra Les Siècles with whom she has toured extensively and has participated in many widely acclaimed recordings. She continues to freelance with ensembles such as the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique, and Paul McCreesh’s Gabrieli Consort and Players and appears regularly with B’Rock and Le Concert de la Loge.
She started her career based in London freelancing with the Philharmonia Orchestra, the London Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra among others. She later specialised in Historical Performance working with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the Academy of Ancient Music, the Early Opera Company and Ex Cathedra.
Rachel holds a masters degree in Music and Art History from King’s College, Cambridge, a masters in Art History from the Courtauld Institute of Art and a diploma from the London School of Journalism. She was a member of Southbank Sinfonia and completed the Formation Supérieure in Saintes, France. Rachel is gratefully indebted to her violin teachers: John Parsons, Tricia Noall, Mark Knight, Oliver Webber and Pavlo Beznosiuk.
